Give your homepage one clear job.

A homepage does not need to explain every detail at once. It should quickly show who the business helps, what it does, and the next useful step. Put the most important service and action where visitors can find them without hunting through the page.

Before writing headlines or choosing images, list the questions a new customer needs answered. That short list is a better starting point for page structure than a collection of slogans.

Start a redesign with an inventory.

Before replacing a site, review what is already there: pages customers use, information that still matters, forms that work, and content that causes confusion. This helps separate the parts worth improving from the parts that need a new approach.

Keep useful page addresses when possible. If a URL must change, plan a direct redirect and update internal links as part of the launch, not as cleanup for later.

Design for small screens from the start.

A responsive website is more than a desktop layout squeezed into a phone. Content order, readable type, comfortable tap targets, and forms that fit the screen all affect whether someone can finish a task.

Test real page content at narrow widths. Long headings, menus, buttons, and embedded media should adapt without clipping, overlap, or forcing visitors to zoom.

Make the next step usable for more people.

Clear heading order, keyboard-friendly navigation, visible focus, descriptive link text, and sufficient contrast make a website easier to use. They also create a more dependable foundation for future content and features.

Accessibility is easiest to maintain when it is considered during design and development, then checked as part of routine updates.
